How to hook up a Samsung sound bar to a LG TV, Samsung dvd and direct tv?

I bought a Samsung 2.1 sound bar and want to hook up to a LG TV on direct tv and a Samsung Blu-ray.

DTV and BD player connect to the TV with HDMI.
Most common solution would be to use the optical audio output of the TV to the Samsung soundbar.
