how to hook up Philips flat screen tv to basic cable

need help connecting my phillips flat screen to basic cable with no cable box. is there anything I can buy? I have the hook up n the back of my tv but I only get one channel

Do you actually have cable access? Most cable providers in the US (that I know of) use a set-top box of some sort. If yours doesn't, then their reps should have instructed you on how to set it up at the very least, or even sent out an installation guy. Might want to give them a call.

You would need to scan for channels to see if there are any others that are available to you without a box. This is usually in the set up menu.
