How to Limit Background Process on an Android Device

Almost all Android devices keep some important processes running in the background in order to provide a smooth experience.

If you are and Android user, you may install many third-party apps on your device, and some apps are resource intensive with their processes running in the background. If any of the apps that you have installed eats processing and memory of the device while running in the background, your gadget may start performing slowly.

In order to maintain the correct balance between the running background resources and device performance, the Android operating system allows you to limit the number of processes that should keep running in the background. By limiting the number of background processes that the Android device should keep running, you can keep your Android device functioning smoothly.

Here is how you can limit the number of processes to run in the background on your Android device:

■Press the power button to switch on your Android device.
■Tap the menu icon to go to the apps list.



■From the app’s interface, tap the Settings icon.



■Under the Settings interface, from the SYSTEM section, tap Developer options.



■Once the Developer options window appears, from the top-right corner, slide to set the Developer options toggle button ON.



■On the same window, locate and tap the Background process limit option under the APPS section.
■Finally, on the opened Background process limit interface, tap to select the radio button representing the number of processes that you want your Android device to run in the background.
