Hi, I got a laptop with I3 3120M 2.5 ghz hyperthreading dual core. I need to overclock it to increase my performance in some games. however I am aware I can't afford buying a cooler (I do have money for it but my family thinks it's something stupid to waste money on, PFF) however, I want to know what program can I use to overclock? This is going to be my first time doing it.

I'm new to overclocking and wouldn't overclock a laptop at all.
What I do know for sure though is not to overclock without proficient cooling. If you cannot afford cooling then do not OC until you can afford to do so to minimize the risk of damaging your CPU.

If you absolutely must do this then here is a pretty decent starter guide-

And here is a simple but more in depth guide-

I hope this helps!
If you need any help with components that does not involve overclocking, feel free to ask.

You won't get much out of doing so and it probably won't even be noticeable(locked multipliers anyways). You will still be playing at minimum all while running the risk of ruining your laptop and not playing GTA at all.

I'm sorry but it is not worth the trouble in my opinion at all. Stick with what you have and save for a desktop or a better CPU with better on board graphics.

At the most look into upgrading your RAM.

you cant overclock an i3 cpu. that's final.
also, overclocking is done in the BIOS, not in an OS, and the bios has to support overclocking, as well as the chipset(motherboard)
