How to pay for play music with my Google Play Cards

I have 50 dollars of credit from codes I got of Google play gift cards. The only problem is, it still charges my credit card monthly instead of using the 50 dollars of credit. I have went into Google wallet and it won't let me change the default payment method to the play store cards either. Is there any way I can do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know how to redeem cards. In my Google wallet it says I have 50 dollars there but it just won't let me use the money. Maybe it's because Google Play Music is a subscription??
