Quick Actions is yet another one of the latest features that Apple has rolled out via the new MacOS Mojave and it is easily one of the best new features they have presented. This feature allows the user to perform some basic actions on selected files without opening them or without opening any other application. These actions can be performed directly via the Finder window with a single click. For example, if you select a few images the quick actions tab will allow you to turn them into a pdf file, or if you select an audio file you can encode it without having to use an encoder application.
Each type of file has its own set of quick actions dedicated to them, and there is also the option of customizing the quick actions as per your needs. Follow these steps to know how to use and customize the Quick Actions feature.
Step 1
Open the finder window and select a file. After doing so go to the menu bar above and under the view drop-down menu select the option ‘Show Preview’.
Step 2
Depending on the file you have selected the bottom left corner of the Finder window will show the available Quick Options. Two of them are shown while a third option ‘More’ is also available.
Step 3
Click on the ‘More’ option to customize the Quick Actions tab and click on ‘Customize’. Once you click on it another window will open with the list of all available Quick Actions, out of which two can be chosen to be displayed within the Finder window. The Quick Actions available for a file depends both on your installed list of applications and your model build/OS.
