how to play audio through the microphone jack

I would like to play audio through the microphone jack on my computer. I want to also be able to talk. I dont know if they have a splitter where I can connect my mic and say mp3 player. Any advice would be appreciated

That simply is not possible unless it is one of them multi jacks found on phones and some laptops.
The port maybe a multi port allowing aux input and mic input but you can only do one or the other.

One of these adapters should allow you to use the mic and speakers and a headset that has both, but sends it over one connector. Computers generally don't do both over one port, but instead use two connectors for that.
