Solved! How to recognize hdmi port on my Toshiba satellite

I cannot connect my epson projector to my Toshiba satellite using hdmi. I cannot get the computer to recognize the HDMI port

Make sure you have the video drivers installed from Toshiba support site. Does the laptop work with any other HDMI connection like a TV? If you look in the display settings does it show anything for a second screen? Is the video card listed in Device Manager with no errors?
