How to Record Skype Video Calls

Since Skype has no built-in feature that allows you to record voice or video calls, you must rely on a third-party application to get the job done.

Although there are many third-party applications available out there for Skype video recording such as 'Free Video Call Recording for Skype', 'Amolto Call Recorder for Skype' (Free version only allows audio call recording), etc., this tutorial focuses on software called Pamela. Pamela is a paid application.

Note: A trial version of Pamela is used in this demonstration. If you do not want to use any paid software, you can search for a free one using your favorite search engine. Nonetheless, almost all Skype video recording applications work in the same way with the paid ones having some additional features.

Assuming that you have already downloaded and installed Pamela on your PC, here is how you can use the software to record the Skype video calls:

    ■Log on to your computer.
■Initialize Skype by double-clicking its icon.
■Click the Allow access button from the top of the Skype interface to allow Pamela to integrate with the software.
Note: The Allow access button will be visible on Skype’s interface when you launch the application for the first time after installing Pamela on your computer.

■After allowing Pamela to integrate with Skype, choose your online friend whose video call you want to record, and click the Video call button on his/her profile to initialize a video call.
■Once the call is initialized, on the displayed Call recording box, click the Video button to start recording the current video call using Pamela. Alternatively you can also click the Sound button to record only the voice of the current call excluding the video recording.

■Before terminating the call, open Pamela’s interface.
■From the displayed categories in the left pane, click Skype recordings.
■From the right pane, click the Stop button (button with a red square symbol) from the standard tool bar (available next to the menu bar at the top of the interface) to save the recorded video.
