How to reinstall MS Office 2007 windows 7 ultimate

Inadvertently I have made some editing work in MS office word file. Subsequently it got corrupted and I am unable to open. I want to carryout some personal work through word filre which got corrupted. Guidance please.

Is it the file that got corrupted, or Office/Windows?

If you take the file to another PC, does it work?
