Hi, first, what model of Pavilion do you have? Second, do you have all the lights on, like the power, the HDD, and you hear the fan. Third, if you connect an external monitor, what do see on it?
pavilion 17 notebook, yes to lights, yes to fan. If I shine a flashlight I can see images and can sign on etc. but it's too dark to see anything. I can't connect an external monitor.
Have you tried to increase the screen brightness? The display backlight is LED, many things could be defective, the screen itself or the display cable or the coils that drive the backlight. What you could try is to disconnect the cable from the back of the screen and connect after. See if the problem persists.
the display is completed disassembled. I have reconnected to cable to screen and it is still black. I did connect to external monitor and it works fine. How do I know if it is the screen or cables
Got a new LED screen and still black. took the rest of machine apart. cannot see any visible damage to monitor cable. Any ideas
MERGED QUESTION Question from Denise52 : "blank screen issue"
Denise52 :
my HP pavilion screen is black. If I shine a flashlight I can see logo, also if I hook it to a external monitor it works fine. It is a LED screen, so no inverter. How do I know if it is a bad screen or bad cables. Monitor is apart and I can't see any obvious cable issues
