Hi, guys. One of my friend just changed her SATA hard disk to SSD on her Dell XPS 15, which uses 2 hard disks, one 60GB SSD for Intel Smart Response Technology cache and a regular SATA hard disk. Before changing the hard disk, she mistakenly copy some data into the 60 GB SSD disk (which is used as Intel Smart Response Technology cache). The technician who replace the sata hard disk had to change the Intel Smart Response Technology setting on the laptop's BIOS to AHCI mode in order to prevent a bluescreen issue on the new SSD drive.

Problem is, after booting the new SSD into Windows, the SSD used for Intel Smart Response Technology cache is not visible in Windows Explorer but can be seen in the "Control Panel's Administrative Tool--> Disk Mgmt --> Storage " as unallocated.

Is there anyway to retrive the data on this drive?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

max cache size is 64GB. so unless she did something. it wouldn't be anything left.

Now, could try partition recovery on the 60GB drive. but unlikely to recovery anything.

it was a cache drive. she shouldn't be able to put anything into that
Thanks for your response. Could it be possible that somehow the it was configured to have some space left? Meaning that the smaller SSD hard disk did not use all its space for cache drive but have some empty space left? Because I am sure that there are 1 partition (on the supposedly cache drive) that can be seen on windows explorer belonging to this drive.
