Everyone has their favorite streaming service, with content designed exclusively for that platform. If you’ve chosen the Roku Stick, read on to find out how to get started.
Everything needed for set up and first play is inside the box.
1. Start With Your TV
Find an available HDMI port. Most modern TVs have several ports on the back and sides. The Roku Stick is an HDMI-Ready apparatus.
These ports are usually labeled, and you can´t go wrong due to its unique shape.
2. Plug in your 'Roku Stick'
Plug the 'Roku Stick' into a free HDMI port.
If the Roku Stick can´t be plugged in because it will not physically fit, you can order a free extension HDMI cable at my.roku.com/hdmi.
3. Select the Correct Input on Your TV
Choose this with your TV´s remote control. Most TVs offer several inputs that can be toggled using the 'Input' or 'Source' button on your remote control. Select the one you connected the Roku Stick to. Bear in mind that modern TVs have more than one HDMI input, so make sure you select the correct one.
Your screen will not display anything yet because the Roku device is not switched on.
4. Power 'ON' your Roku Stick
Plug the USB cable into the Roku Stick. The other end can either go to your TV’s USB outlet, or use the included adapter to plug it into a wall socket.
Your screen will display the Roku Logo shortly after being plugged in.
5. Pair the Remote Control
Insert the included batteries and it should pair automatically. An intermittent green light will appear on the front side of the remote.
If the remote doesn´t pair automatically, press and hold the pair button beneath the battery slot.
6. Select Your 'Language'
Choose the 'Correct Language' at the ‘Let´s get started’ screen.
7. Connect to Your 'Wireless Network'
Choose the correct 'Wireless Network' from the list and enter your 'Password'.
8. 'Link your Roku account' to the Roku Stick
A code will appear on your screen. Enter it on your 'Roku account' to link the apparatus to your profile.
• If you don´t have an account, you can create one at this stage.
• Entering a payment method will allow purchases and renting straight from your couch.
9. Select Your 'Favorite Channels'
Select the channels you want to stream from the ones offered. Hit ‘Continue’ to finish the activation of your Roku Stick.
Your screen will load the channels and then say ‘All done’.
Your Roku Stick is now good to go.
