Whenever I'm on skype with friends in my bedroom, they hear background noise from my apartment super clearly, even if the noise isn't loud and is coming from another room in the house like someone walking on the hardwood floor in another room or washing dishes in the kitchen even when I close the door! It's crazy how well my microphone picks up noises.

Thanks for your help!

Solution
Try this:
Right Click the Volume controller.(Where you adjust the Sound)
Click Recording devices.
Right Click Microphone and click properties.
Go to the levels tab.
Try turning the microphone level and if this doesn't work, try turning down the Microphone boost levels.

Thanks so much! My microphone was at 80 and my microphone boost is at +10.0 dB, so I lowered my microphone to 50. I'll see if that does the trick.
