how to stop the black screen from appearing when i run my laptop?

my screen will just go black, sometimes as often as every few seconds or minutes, sometimes hours between. How is the best way and cheapest way to fix this problem.

Specs? well the screen will just go black and i must push the restart button on the laptop itself to make my icon appear. add my password and am back where i was while typing, nothing lost and my yahoo must sign in again

Lol...SPECS means WHICH LAPTOP...Make and model ?

Try setting it to HIGH PERFORMANCE in Power options and TURN OFF Sleep mode...

Try setting it to HIGH PERFORMANCE in Power options and TURN OFF Sleep mode...

Wait, wait wait, You're saying 'you've got a black screen and all' you really must be kidding. It's just the stupid battery about to go bad. Your computer is in sleep mode so whatever that means you will have to do what you normally do when you un-hibernate your machine. Hope this helps
