Question How to stream movie from Mac to TV?

Hey,

I want to play a movie that’s stored on my Mac, but I can’t figure out how to do it. AirPlay doesn’t seem to work for some reason.

What’s the best way to watch something from my Mac on the big screen? Any advice or step-by-step help would be awesome. Thanks!

I have a MacBook Air. I want to play an MP4.
Yes, everything is connected. I've checked several times.

AirPlay makes it easy to stream videos, music and photos from your iPhone , iPad or Mac to your TV.

First, turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your mobile device, and check that the TV and mobile device are connected to the same Wi-Fi.
Make sure the Apple AirPlay setting is turned on in the TV menu.
Press the Home button on the TV remote control and go to Menu → Settings → All Settings → Connection → Apple AirPlay Settings → AirPlay.
Open Control Center by swiping down from the top right corner of your mobile device screen or swiping up from the bottom edge of the screen
Select "Allow" on the TV screen and select Screen Mirroring.
Select the TV model you want to connect to from the screen mirroring list.
Enter the password displayed on the TV screen into the mobile device and press the OK button
To cancel screen mirroring, open the control center of your mobile device, select 'Screen Mirroring' and select 'Stop Mirroring' or press the Return button on the TV remote control.
