how to switch from component option to composite option to regain color video on dvd player?

i got a new tv. its onn brand. dont know if that matters. my old dvd player displays color with my old tv. the new tv displays color on channels but the dvd is black and white. it has only video input for both component and composite which i have the yellow cord going in. it is the only hole that will give me any video. how do i get a color display. i have tried looking though the menu on both the tv and the dvd player. i havent figured it out. please help.

It will be in one of the TV menus but since we don't know the model of the TV we can't search for the manual online. Suggest you download it and search for "composite video" or check the index if it has one.
