Hello, I need a google account name that is already taken and before some time ago I saw a article that you can claim that you want that name and if nobody use it anymore Google can give it to you, but cannot find it anymore. Does anybody knows how it works?

Solution
I assume you not using G Suite as that is only thing I can find that mentions taking old user names.

If you are receiving an error when trying to create a username or logging in, the username was created at one time (which is why you can't create it) but has been deleted or disabled. Google doesn't recycle usernames so you will have to create a different username.

Contact the person who owns it.
Offer them lots of money.
They may relinquish it to you.

Google does not free up "unused" addresses.
