how to transfer photos, marked as favorites, from ipad to windows

I recently uploaded nearly 4000 photos to my ipad (from my camera) while on a one month trip. During the trip I painstakingly went through all the photos and marked those that were my "favorites". I got the 4000 photos down to my favorite 1000 photos. Now that I am home, I ONLY want transfer my "favorite" 1000 photos (not the 4000) onto my windows desktop to further process in Adobe Light room or Photoshop. I do not want the other 3000. I would hate to have wasted all that effort sorting photos on the trip.

I know how to get all 4000 photos on to the windows desktop but can not figure out a way to JUST TRANSFER those marked as "favorites" (they show up on my ipad in a separate folder called "favorites" - however, when I connect my ipad to my windows desktop - the "favorites" folders does not appear.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

note - the photos are all JPEGS approx. 5 MB each.

Knowing myself, I'd do it the hard way and either transfer the photos to my computer then the new phone. Or maybe use a file transfer app like SHAREit.
