How to view pics on sd card in huawei android phone.

Pictures saved to sd card do not show up in gallery or anyplace else that I can find. I want them in gallery for easy viewing. I selected that action be taken using gallery every time. I saved pics from an email after selecting sd card as the default and it told me they were saved to the card, but where did they go?..
