How to watch laptop picture to tv monotor

can you please help me about
how I will able to watch my laptop screen on TV
monitor.

Most newer televisions have vga plugs built in,especially big screens. I bought a $25.00 15ft vga cable which had a audio cable built in.I connected the vga to my laptop,the audio cable to the headphone jack on the laptop,connected the other end of the vga to the plug on the big screen tv, & the audio cable to my surround sound input jack.
Now all I do is turn on my tv, switch the input source to PC and everything is setup.audio goes thru the surround sound flawlessly,and anything on my monitor shows on the big screen.resolution can be adjusted for movies thru the pic size on the tv remote.
