Solved! HP 15-bs015dx won't boot -- caps lock blinks

When I power up the laptop nothing happens except there is a light that blinks on the caps lock button. It is 3 slow blinks then 2 quick blinks. HP code instruction says it could be a bad memory chip. I removed the chip, put it back in, and it didn't help. Bought a new memory chip and still nothing. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks.

If there is more than one RAM for the computer I would consider replacing each.

It is is also possible it is a corrupt BIOS. You can try removing and then replacing the CMOS battery.

If none of this works, then I would suggest having it looked at.

Bad memory slot on the motherboard will cause this error also even if you use RAM that you know is good and compatible.

Thanks for the response and the suggestions. Unfortunately, there was only one chip and I replaced it with no success. Also, took at the cmos battery and replaced it as well. Still Nada.

Then I would have it looked at. It is possible the motherboard itself is the problem. However, see what the cost is first. May be cheaper to buy a new device.
