HP battery draining TOO fast

I've had my HP Envy for almost a year now, running on Win8.1.
I usually get 7-8 hours from a full charge, but within the last week the time has dropped to about four, which is quite alarming.

Could recent Windows updates be doing this?
Something else?
How do I find out?
I know that Android has an app that shows you which apps are running and how much power they use.... is there anything similar for Win?

(my laptop HAS been having difficulties completing updates after restart, even after I turned all security systems off, so maybe that's a factor?)

Most laptop batteries only last a year or two. When they start to wear out this frequently starts happening.
