Hp dv5000 losing dvd after about 30 mins.just disappears

my sons laptop/hp dv5000 loses dvd drive after about 30 min's of on time...just disappears(not in device manger)windows 7

that would take it out of device settings also?

Don't know if it would take it out of Device Manager -- but the time issue suggests that power save is an avenue to explore.

thanks for reply .just seams like a hardware heat problem ...just not sure whether mb or dvd
