I was looking at a post here at tom's hardware and it said that some manufacturers allow their GPU to be replaced, which can be done by taking the whole thing apart and unscrewing the GPU then changing it with another one...is it really possible with some brands? i mean, with HP DV6, did anyone try to take it apart and see?

do you think that unsoldering and soldering another gpu would be an easy task. Any tuts on that?

Not going to happen. The task would be very difficult and still wouldn't work, the rest of the board wouldn't support the hardware. Sorry, new laptop will be needed. I suggest

Acer Aspire V3-551G-8454 Notebook AMD A-Series A8-4500M and AMD Radeon HD 7670M - $500

Ebay the current laptop and get this one, an incredible price for a 7670m
