I have an hp dv 6000 that I am trying to down grade from Vista to XP. I know that I have to change from sata to the other. I cannot find an option in the bios that will let me do that. How can I disable the sata for my drives?

It might not offer the option to, some motherboards don't.
Why are you downgrading? Unless you have a specific needed application conflict, there's no reason to. Vista is now as good/better than XP. It's configured differently, so it might be a little bit to adjust to, but it's not worth the trouble of replacement with XP.

The owner does not like Vista and wants xp. Since this post, I have been able to do what I needed to do. Thanks for the reply though.
