I've had so much trouble trying to upgrade to an SSD, it's almost gotten to the point where I've just about given up.

So I finally received the right connector cable for my SSD to plug into HP's connection port. However, as soon as I plug in my 256GB Samsung SSD, my HP will not power up. When I press the power button, I hear really soft "clicks" and the LED light on the power button will flash for a bit when I continue pressing down.

I take the SSD connector cable off, and it powers up like a champ again.

Can someone help me out? Thanks!

Sorry for any confusion. It is not a USB Adapter. It is an HP HDD Connector Cable, as seen here:

(The only difference is that my cable, the one for the DV7-7000 series, is longer than the one pictured.)

So I have to manually open up the back of my laptop to insert it or to remove it.
