HP Envy 17t touch 17.3-inch
Intel i7-6700HQ - 16GB Memory - 1TB HDD
NVIDIA GTX 950M 4GB

All for ~$1030 and I plan to purchase 16gb more memory and replace HDD with 500gb SSD for ~250. I've gotten use to Touch Screen with my Surface and every time I'm using a laptop I now swipe at the screen for simple things I want to do and then go; Oh yeah Dad's laptop can't do that.

I am disabled and can't use my desktop comfortably so I'm looking for something to replace it. Thinking this would be good enough for me to play video games (even if not on max settings).. A fairly cost efficient way of going about things.

I'm looking to get suggestions if anyone has some; and anyone having previous model could tell me how they like it. As well I was looking at Crucial SSD Drive 555 MB/s Read, 500 MB/s write. I honestly chose them cause I have always loved their memory. I can go up in price a bit, but $~1600 is probably max. Look around, but most 17" don't have touch screen and frankly I use touch quite often now.

Heya :)

So the laptop already has 16GB ram?
Because 16GB will be more than enough, unless you want to do video editing, or rendering of some sort.

That 950M graphics card is good
Here's how it runs Witcher 3

and GTA V

You could leave it standard 16GB ram, and the SSD would be really nice.
You could get 250GB SSD, and convert the current 1TB to an external. (if you're switching it out)
Then you could store your games etc on there.

I did some looking around for other 17" laptops, but as you said they're pretty rare. The one you mentioned is very good though, so I don't think you need to find another one.
I did find similar ones however...

I did find similar ones however;

But they're much more expensive, and the specs aren't really better.
