HP G72 - Cannot install windows 7, only windows 8.1

Whenever I try to install windows 7 it tells me "windows cannot install required files.." . But it can install windows 8.1.
I really don't like windows 8.1 and also my laptop isn't that strong to handle it. Any fixes please, everything would've helped.
