HP laptop keyboard issue after screen repair.

After the screen was replaced on my elite book the keyboard won't work?
It is detected and have tried pressing escape, took out battery, tried num lock the etc...
Just can't see how it could,ve been damaged by the screen?!

Update

A fresh install of Windows and the integrated keyboard still not working but also USB keyboards no longer type. There's sound from the keyboard but no text?! Perplexing!

Did this happen as soon as the screen was replaced? If so, at least on my HP laptop - to get at the screen ribbon cable - the keyboard must be removed so .... I would check the keyboard's ribbon cable connection - it's all too easy to get it 'not quite right' when putting the keyboard back in.
