I recently had to replace the cpu fan/heatsink mechanism of a HP dv6000 Pavilion Laptop. During reassembly, the small, thin plastic piece that slides over the keyboard ribbon to secure it in place broke in half. I was able to get the ribbon in place and get them to fall seamlessly in place.

Before super-gluing it in place forever, I tried booting the computer while holding the ribbon in place.

It doesn't work during boot, and not in Windows either. I check device manager and it says the keyboard is working fine. Updating and rollingback drivers doesn't change things.

I try redoing the connection several times but nothing changes.

Hi :)

I own a lappy repair company...

Its the connection...it needs a certain amount of pressure to make a good electrical contact... i.e the bit you broke... :(

You will have to bodge it with a small piece of plastic and some tape...

It may or may not work....if not...usb keyboard will work...

All the best Brett :)
