I own an HP Mini 1000 running XP. The manual says I can only use 1gb of RAM under XP but, up to 2gb under Linux. Why can't I upgrade to 2gb of RAM under XP? Is it just because XP-SP2 won't go into hibernation with more than 1gb of RAM as I've read elsewhere or, is there another reason?

Where does it say the XP version can only upgrade to a 1GB max? Link please.

I have the Compaq Mini D600e which is basically the HP mini rebadged as a compaq and I've had no problems. Took out a single 1gb DDR2 and replaced with 2gb DDR2 and it's worked fine. Tested with WinXP and Windows 7. I can't see any reason that the HP mini would be any different ??
