HP Pavilion DV5-1159se - Screen and/or Graphics issue

My laptop doesn't want to use all of the available space on the screen. There is a 2-3" black area (no video) on the right hand side and a 1/2" area along the bottom that may be black as well. There is a graphics hiccup below the start button as well. I have reinstalled the graphics drivers, updated any other display drivers I could find and I've played with all of the resolution screen size settings numerous times. My mouse will not go into these black areas. It's like the edge of the screen.
Unit is running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit.

Hardware issue? Software issue? Any help is much appreciated. Brian

how long has this being going on & have you tried a system restore to before this started? what resolution is that & what is the max resolution the laptop can goto? try using an external monitor to see if does same thing or not because if it does then it is an onboard videocard issue.
