I have been looking for a way to upgrade my laptop only to find out to my horror that in the HP dv6 series the AMD APUs are soldered to the system board. I was wonder if I could swap out the Pavilion dv6 7010us A8-4500m system board for an Envy dv6-7245us A10-4600m system board and not have to mess with the battery or BIOS or anything like that. Thanks.

is the envy board compatible with your laptop case at all is what you should check 1st. the bios is part of the motherboard so that doesn't get changed at all. most likely can get away without reinstalling windows.

From what I could see the cases were identical because the both use the dv6 setup and from what I could tell from the manuals the Envy is compatible with all the parts on the Pavilion. The only thing that is different between them is that Envy computers come with Windows 8 already installed but since I am only switching out the motherboard and some ram and not the hard drive would I be correct in saying that that would be a none issue?

as long as intel board fits into your laptop case but you will have to reload windows if you do switch to intel.
