Hp pavilion help

Hello,
My computer turns on (the lights go on, the fan is working) but the screen is black. No activity on screen at all. We tried a hard reset and attaching an external monitor but no luck. Any suggestions?

Hold the laptop up to a bright light or shine a flashlight on the screen.
Can you make out anything when lit up with the external light source?

If so your laptop screen's backlight is the problem.

Hi Kat_03,

No display even on external monitor indicates that there's something wrong with display/graphics card.
