HP Spectre x360 vs Lenovo Yoga pro 3

the laptop convertibles are for everyday business work in a hazardous/busy environment (shop floor)

out of the two which would you recommend, bearing in mind that its for someone else whos looking to replace their iPad 2 with something that runs a bit faster for simple web browsing and light word and excel usage.

im personally lost with regards to the new m skew processors and have no idea of their comparable performance to the traditional i3-i7 mobile processors so any insight would be appreciated too.

with regards to battery life - again with a lack of knowledge on power consumption other than hyperbolic 'facts and figures' provided on their respectable websites, im lost so roughly something along the lines of 6-8 hours of web browsing and spreadsheet work would be ideal.

of course, should any one else have any other good recommendations around the £800-£1100 ($1200-$1700 - roughly) price point that are currently available (looking to purchase within 2 weeks) then please do let me know.

Out of the 2 I would choose the hp as it should have more battery life. Also windows, don't do really well with high res screens. Also the cpu is more powerful. You could also try a macbook air as it has more than enough power to run excel and to watch videos and it has a great battery life and keyboard. This is assuming you don't mind macs.

After some discussion prior to this I was made aware that certain applications were unable to run on a mac, sorry I should of made this clear from the start

I would choose the HP Spectre 360 because it has a more powerful CPU. Both are Broadwell generation CPUs that Intel has designed to be power efficient. However, I am not sure which CPU offers better battery life. One thing to consider is that the higher the screen resolution is the higher the power consumption will be. Therefore, the 1920x1080 resolution should consume less power.


However, the HP Spectre 360 has half the RAM and SSD storage compared to the Lenovo Yoga 3. I assume there is a version of the HP Spectre 360 with more than just 4GB of RAM and more SSD capacity.

wel i was so lucky to have both last week

the wireless card in the HP was defective, so that one was returned
i bought the yoga instead, however also experiencing severe problems with this one
on battery mode the brightness of the screen is adjusting itself constantly, when switching programs with a lighter or darker screen, even after dynamic brightness has been set to off in the power saving schedules
also when playing music from youtube in the back ground, there is a lot of static noise, when you load the processor with other applications
i might think of returning this one as well

Preference is key as Yoga3 is a little lighter.
That said you can get i7 256 and end up battery life much longer.
Yoga has Core M and will not pack the punch of i7.
Also price tage is $120 more.
All in all its hard to argue the against HP.
