Solved! HP stream laptop not shutting down completely

I recently purchased a HP Stream14" Laptop after shutting down the laptop, the power adapter light is still flashing as if if is in sleep mode. How can I fix this any ideas?

When I power up the battery has gone down so it must still be on....

Exactly what is the sequence you are using to shut down the machine?

I go to the start button, select the power button and then select shut down. It is just the white power light still flashes slowly as if it is in a sleep or hibernate mode....

Thank you, I think I have the latest update so not sure why it is still happening... very odd.

Double check your power profile settings (Control Panel/Power Options) to make sure you aren't putting your system to sleep/hibernate instead of shutting down.
