Is there no end to this pointless litigation?

Exactly how is this benefiting the consumer, unless you are a lawyer who wants a new gadget and the fees pay for it?

Someone really needs to tell the tech industry patents don't make any sense for them. If there's a correct answer to a problem, you shouldn't be able to patent it because any other company would arrive at the exact same answer on their own. Patents are supposed to prevent other companies from copying, not prevent them from solving problems.

The funny thing is, there isn't anyone who even starts to suggest that these companies are stealing information from each other. They're just saying "We patented this before you did, even though we both came to the same answer on our own." And apparently, the way the system works, that means one company owes the other money.

For the sake of humankind`s evolution, can somebody ban Apple from suing anybody in this world that makes a better product than them ?

Look and feel patents are the ones causing the real problems here, not the ones about how they work or are made.

Before ultrabooks we just had orinary laptops and barring a few subtle variations in the shape of the casing pretty much every laptop in the world looked the same:-
Opening lid
Keyboard on the bottom
Screen on the top
Ports round the sides
Removable battery
Trackpad

No one ever sued anyone else for such basic things, which by the way are a lot more specific in look and feel than things like "it is shaped like a rectangle" or "it is thin"

We need a strong Judge to objectively look at past technology which all look alike and apply the same logic to todays technology, then rule that he couldn't give a god-god-damn and bans all future look & feel cases.

[citation][nom]jimmysmitty[/nom]What comes around goes around. Apple now knows this.[/citation]
All Apple knows is money, it knows it will have to pay fines for certain things but accepts them as the financial rewards are higher.

That's why it deliberately broke a court ruling after the Beatles case for stealing their Apple logo, that said they could not enter the music business.

Some Apple company lawyer must have worked out that paying any amount of settlement would be worth it to corner the digital music market, as it was the Judge thought that becoming the worlds largest music distributor wasn't classified as entering the music business.

Obviously a bent Judge.

But you can see how Apple works in this environment, pay $50 million settlement to make the case go away, gain $1 billion in revenue, the law is now irellevant as long as you have deep enough pockets.

if the courts could charge more for filing lawsuits, US might get out of debt.

We the consumer should sue Apple for holding up tech progress - We want our gadgets!

I think Apples lawsuit should be thrown out because of fake/false photos given to the courts. what ever happened with those photos anyway? If any of use was to lie in court its straight to jail don't pass go, don't not collect $200 - whats up with that?

Agreed. Because if someone makes a product that sells more than Apple, apparently it's patent infringement.
