if you formatted the HDD with the OS, you only have the choice to reinstall it.

I agree. You will have to reinstall it that is the only way i can think of man. On the other hand if you download and use a recovery software program and run that on the hard drive you might be able to recover some files and folders on it, just in case you had any important documents or pictures etc you might get some of those back.
