Does anyone know why my Pound sign (key 3) has stopped working and also I have to press shift and number key 2 for @ sign? Just wierd.

push budget a lil higher to get a descrete gpu

You should atleast get an i3 laptop with a descrete gpu even if you have to wait and save some more money. For video editing you really need a good cpu. So the best thing you could do right now is wait because it won't really hurt unless you are in a hurry.
