I am trying to hookup my sanyo brand DVD player to play my DVD movies on my element television, but I have red, white,and yell

My television is an element flat screen TV and my DVD player is a regular dvd player with with red, white, and yellow holes on the back, but the t.v. only has red, and white holes on the back.

We can't tell what inputs your TV has without a model number.
If it has a component video input (3 RCA jacks) then that is probably a shared compositer (yellow RCA) component video (red, green blue RCA) input. Check the owners manual on where to connect the yellow RCA and set the input to composite in the TV menu.
