We would need to know the model of the sub to answer that. Putting it in parallel with the front speakers is probably not advised.

That sub is actually a SB-WVK80. The integrated home theater system was a vk80d. Sure, you can make that passive sub (there may have originally been two) to an active sub by buying an amplifier.
