I can barely see the screen/black. How can I repair this?

It is a satellite 2455-s305. I fixed a T1 and other electronics I use which most would say give up on...but how can I repair?

I never used a Toshiba but am not concerned about breaking this one any. If I connect it to another monitor. Will that allow me to fix it? Toshiba wanted 290.00+, but I think I can fix this. It was given to me for money owed. Used by a professional in Washington.

try connecting an external monitor to see if displays properly as sounds like the backlite of the screen crapped out.
