I cannot figure out how to get the sound from regular tv channels to come out of my surround sound system

that dvd system has toslink and spdif input for optical audio, so assuming the tv has optical output, which most does, then you would just the correct TV. since vizio makes 10000 different tv's, i can't look it up to see without a model #.
