I can't get my gateway notebook off if hibernate. What can I do?

I turn my gateway notebook on and it says hibernating. How do I get it to boot up?

If the power indicator LED is lit up, hold the power button down continuously until the power LED goes off. Then disconnect the AC adapter, remove the laptop battery, and press the power button 10 times, on the 10th time hold it down for about 30 seconds and then let go. Connect the AC adapter (leave the battery out for now), and try powering the laptop on
