i cant play youtube videos on my toshiba laptop

whenever i search anything on net.like steps for a recipe or an acitivity.they give me links of videos on youtube.when i go thid link the video cannot be seen.its black no play no pause no stop so i have to go a page back.this problem is from the starting.
