Solved! I connected my TV to my DVD souround sound and I get sound when I watch a DVD but no sound when watching TV

Correct.

Red/White/Yellow are STEREO connections.

In order to get surround u must use either HDMI or Optical.

It depends which way these are connected. If you use them in DVD->TV direction, then will not return audio from the TV back. Please provide exact models of both devices for further help.
