I don't have cable or internet service. How do I set up my smart TV to get basic channels

Get basic cable or if your Smart TV allows for Antennas to be used , they will sometimes pick up some local stations...results vary depending on how close you are to broadcasting towers.

You need an over the air (OTA) antenna to connect to your antenna input. Then, you scan for channels on the HDTV. You'll only receive what is broadcast in your local area, assuming you are close enough to any transmission sources.
