Usually when things rattle or you find xtra parts on something you took apart isn't good. The fact that it's a laptop isn't good either. Best thing to do is find a expert on that model and show him what came out. Backup anything that's important as you may never know what could happen next.

You have an optical drive in your laptop, I think the silver spring comes for the drive, try using the optical drive to see if it is working.

As I said it could be. However I think most battery doors for laptops are part of the battery and if you can't see if the spring is missing then I doubt that's it.

For the battery latches, one latch you push and it comes back at his place with the spring, the second one should remains at his place when you push it.
