Hello all,

Got this annoying black screen with the Yoga 7 slim, which is stopping me from using the laptop.

So basically, this laptop was working fine, then I think what went wrong was using the wrong charger (could be completely wrong). Anyhow, it now turns on, but the screen does not come on at all. See below everything I have tried- I used video guides, AI, all that, no luck. If this is going to be a big job that will cost more than the laptop itself (its not new). Please let me know. I haven't really got the funds to replace it, so I'm trying everything. Thanks to anyone who takes a look at this post, I appreciate it. Also to note, AI told me to do all this key inputs for BIOS boot attempts, I may not have done these properly (would have thought I did though) but you know, its possible. Thanks again.

Device

  • Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro

  • Black screen, no display at all (internal or external)
  • Laptop shows signs of power but won’t fully boot

Symptoms observed

  • Initially:
    • Keyboard lights came on
    • No display
    • Power light flashing

Troubleshooting already attempted

Power / reset

  • Hard reset (power button hold)
  • 60-second and 90-second EC reset attempt.
  • Tried powering on with and without charger

Charging

  • Initially used third-party USB-C charger
  • Switched to correct charger (still third party but works with voltage etc.)
  • Confirmed charging light now behaves normally (white)

Display

  • Tested external monitor (no signal)
  • Tried display reset (Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B)
  • Tried display switching (Windows + P)

BIOS / boot attempts

  • Tried accessing BIOS (Fn + F2 / F12)
  • Tried BIOS recovery (Fn + R)
  • No screen output at any point

Hardware reset

  • Opened laptop
  • Disconnected internal battery
  • Held power button (20+ seconds)
  • Left unplugged for several minutes
  • Reconnected and retried boot

Current behaviour

  • Laptop powers on
  • Keyboard light pulses (suggesting attempted boot)
  • No display output at all

Suspected causes according to AI (based on troubleshooting)

  • BIOS/firmware corruption
  • RAM failure (possibly soldered)
  • Motherboard fault
